brisbane artificial intelligence

In which we try to explain why we consider artificial intelligence to be a subject most worthy of study, and in which we try to decide what exactly it is, this being a good thing to decide before embarking. (taken from Stuart Russel)
Talks:
This is a regular Brisbane based meet-up, more info about the MeetUp itself is here: https://www.meetup.com/Brisbane-Artificial-Intelligence/

If yours is not there, tweet @BrisbaneAI or email Juxi!
Keen on trying out the code but you have issues? Discuss them on our new Slack channel: http://brisbane.ai/slack/

Tutorial

The 20 minute tutorial will give an overview of image processing methods, a brief introduction to the theory of convolutional networks and a tutorial on designing a system to recognise handwritten digits. If you come along with python, jupyter and tensorflow installed you can follow along with the tutorial on your own laptop. Slides and code will be made available after the talk so don't worry if you don't have your laptop with you on the night. The talk will finish with a quick look at the current state of the art in image based AI and some of the promising results in recent research. There'll be plenty of time to discuss and get to know everyone with nibbles and drinks provided by Mawson Ventures during the event. We look forward to seeing you all there!
